The Second War of the Worlds is a book written by George H. Smith, and one of many unofficial sequels to The War of the Worlds, others including Edison's Conquest of Mars.
The book tells the story of how the Martians make their second attempt to eliminate the humans of Earth, compared to Edison's Conquest, in which Humans retaliate against Mars and try to destroy the Martian population, or at least its ability to make war.
The story is set on a parallel Earth, called Annwn, based somewhat on Celtic folklore. The basis of the story is that the original Martians came from the Mars in this second universe, where Mars is somewhat more habitable than it is in our universe. Having failed in our universe, the Martians try again in their own home universe, this time prepared for Earthly bacteria and infection which led to their downfall in the first attempt.
Unfortunately for the Martians, they have not accounted for the fact that the physical sciences of their own home universe allow for some "psychic" phenomena which contribute to their defeat a second time.
