Sergei Kushnirov - also known as General Serge Kushnirov or simply as "The General" - was a Russian soldier originally from St. Petersburg and one of the high ranking leaders of the Allied Resistance Earth Squadron (A.R.E.S).
Sergei himself was a veteran of the first War of the Worlds in 1899 - with the war ultimately costing him the lives of his wife and daughter. At some point, he and his son Dimitri emigrated to the United States and joined A.R.E.S - becoming second-in-command under former President and Secretary of War Theodore Roosevelt Jr and the commander of the Dreadnought-Class Battle Zeppelin "Leviathan".

General Sergei Kushnirov is a tall, strong, middle aged Russian man.His A.R.E.S uniform overcoat jacket (which is what he is most often shown wearing). He also own a small watch that contains the small family portrait of of both his late, wife, late daughter, and youngest son Dimitri, which he is sometimes seen taking out of his pocket in order to reflect on his past.

General Sergei Kushnirov is a man with a tragic past, having lost his wife and daughter to the Martians years back in 1899, caused him to earn a hatred towards the Martians, because of how the Martians see humans as nothing more than weakling primitives. When facing the Martians in battle he is a brilliant strategist and expert tactician, especially when in many situations, he always remains calm, cool-headed, strategic, and courageous (even in the face of death).
