The Hudson Ferry is a Ferry that runs through parts of New York. In the 2005 film adaptation of War of the Worlds, Ray Ferrier, along with his children made an attempt to escape the Tripods. As they travel down the river, the captain sees lights underwater and stares in fear. Moments later, a tripod surfaces next to the boat, capsizing it and knocking all of the passengers into the black water. It then begins abducting survivors from the water, possibly consuming them. Only Ray, Robbie and Rachel make it to shore.
The real life vessel used is also called North Star and is owned and operated by the Cross Sound Ferry company between New London, CT and Orient Point, NY.
